Our Doctors of Veterinary Medicine (DVMs)

Renee Lara, DVM, Full-Time (top)

Renee Lara, Dentist of Veterinary Medicine, Kingdom Animal Hospital

I graduated from TAMU Veterinary School in 1984. Wanting to return to the Bryan/ College Station area I purchased Kingdom Animal Hospital in 1990.

I opened the clinic with the goal of offering high quality medicine and surgery for small animals and exotics. Over the years we have built a clientele that perpetuates by word of mouth and there is no greater compliment.

Through my hobby of raising and showing German Shorthaired Pointers and Dachshunds I have developed a rapport with breeders state wide. The reproduction services offered by the clinic continue to expand yearly.

It has been an exciting year with the addition of new and advanced diagnostic equipment including an Ultrasound machine and Digital Imaging. Through continuing education everyone at Kingdom Animal Hospital strives to stay on the cutting edge of veterinary medicine.

Powell Knight, DVM, Full-Time (top)

Powell Knight, Dentist of Veterinary Medicine, Kingdom Animal Hospital

Powell Knight has been with Kingdom Animal Hospital serving the Bryan College Station community since 2006. Dr. Knight is a happy Houston transplant and 2003 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary medicine. Dr. Knight has grown with our practice to further develop our reproductive services, expanding into semen freezing and various breeding techniques, to include trans-cervical insemination. As a person Dr. Knight enjoys working on bicycles and anything else mechanical; this interest logically extends into his enjoyment of soft tissue and orthopedic surgery. Training early in his career makes Dr. Knight comfortable with airway and cosmetic procedures sometimes necessary with English Bulldogs and other brachycephalic breeds. Dr. Knight extends his thanks to all of Kingdom’s clients for making the community feel like family.

Melissa Bump, DVM, Part-Time (top)

Melissa Bump, Dentist of Veterinary Medicine, Kingdom Animal Hospital

Attending Texas A&M University through undergraduate and veterinary medical training, Melissa Bump earned her doctorate in 2000. She pursued an additional year of education by working as a small animal intern in the A&M Small Animal Clinic. Upon completion of that training in the summer of 2001, she began working at Kingdom Animal Hospital on a part-time basis. Dr. Bump also had part-time employment at San Antonio's Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) for 4 1/2 years. She chooses to remain part-time to enable her to be more involved with her young children while staying current with veterinary medicine.

With her husband, Dr. Bump also owns and operates a motorcycle training program, Training Wheels, To teach basics of riding motorcycles in the safest way possible.
